Leagues for PK & K will resume in October as well as our leagues in San Francisco and San Jose.

The Legarza Basketball  Smart Start Pre-League  is a fun, co-educational, non-competitive, professional introduction to the game of basketball. The 21-year, proven and tested system that over 80,000 children have experienced and benefitted from, is tailored to help your youngster succeed. Our goal is to teach kids to “learn to love the game, so that they can go on to love to learn the game” as they mature as players and people.

Throwing your child in the deep end of the pool without swimming lessons isn’t very smart or helpful for your child, even Michael Phelps had swim lessons. Similarly, throwing your child into a basketball league when they haven’t been taught any skills or know how to play is not beneficial.

Research has shown that competition before a child is at the emotional maturity level to handle it is unhealthy for your child. More than 75% of children that start competitive sports prior to the age of 9 drop out before they are 12 years old.
